Very first perspective class at Pradomar demonstrating that the horizon line is always on the viewer’s eye level. In this case only the photographer’s eyes are resting on the horizon line.

Studio Colombia 2013: Understanding  Perspective held last February was a great success! We spent 10 memorable  days in Pradomar, Cartagena and Santa Marta with a great group of artists and art lovers from Ottawa and Montreal.  We are planning Studio Colombia again for February 2014.

Here are some comments from our participants:

Studio Colombia is so much more than a perspective painting workshop … although I’ll never look at a horizon line in quite the same way again! As a first-time visitor to Colombia, I was blown away by the colour, culture and beauty of the country and its people, and I can’t think of better guides than Mónica and Yves. They were the consummate hosts, always solicitous of their little group and accommodating of our individual needs. As at any of their workshops, we laughed and we learned, we sampled the local spirits and grappled with the meaning of life (usually in that order), and we feasted on the local delicacies. In Colombia, though, we were also privileged to meet Mónica’s family, and experienced first-hand Colombian charm, grace and hospitality. Thank you, Yves and Mónica, for a wonderful experience that I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone! Halina Gasewicz

Studio Colombia was a very fulfilling experience. Not only did I came back with a great appreciation for the country and its culture but I also found the other participants of Colombia Studio to be quite interesting. There was never a dull moment during Studio Colombia. I would recommend it to whoever is thinking of joining the next studio in this fascinating country.  Doris Lamontagne

Through it’s excursions, Studio Colombia is far more than art and touring. This is a trip that challenges one to stretch, to connect with one’s own Being, whether artist or not, yet as well, it offers skill learning on an applied and practical level in a very collegial way.  Gerry Giuliani

Who are we?

We all make art! It is part of culture. It is deeply rooted in human nature as a way of communicating with others. We all need to tell our stories because it is stories that link us all. We are all one, one creative mind! Though, all unique and equipped with unique ways of expressing ourselves. We live in constant search of that unique liberating voice. At Walk the Arts we aim to facilitate our art makers to explore new territories. Our painting classes and art history trips on three continents are meant to be rounded art experiences among small groups of like-minded adults. We offer an environment that fosters creativity. As we always say, art as religion is just a matter of faith. This blog is about living fully the experience of art, about finding our single artistic path, about the joy of art-making. We believe that making art accessible to all will lead to a betterment of our society.
